Visitors and employees of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg were evacuated due to an anonymous message "threatening security," Fontanka reports, citing the museum's press service. Museum Security Service employees, together with the Russian National Guard, are checking the exhibition halls and service areas.
A visitor to the Hermitage told the publication that several Rosgvardia vehicles arrived at the museum at around 1:30 p.m. She clarified that everyone had been evacuated from the building and that the situation was calm.
On New Year's Eve, security forces cordoned off the territory of Palace Square in St. Petersburg because of an unattended package. A dog handler with a dog was called to the scene.In early January, employees of the Vnukovo-2 postal logistics center were evacuated due to a suspicious object in a parcel that looked like an IED. The dangerous parcel came from Novosibirsk. After an X-ray, it turned out that it contained nails and wires. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene confirmed the presence of TNT in it and defused it.
