Officers of the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Region are investigating a criminal case of high treason, in which a 56-year-old pilot working at one of the civil aviation enterprises of the Southern Federal District is suspected. According to the security agencies, the aircraft commander independently found channels on the Internet to collect financial assistance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and transferred the amount in cryptocurrency to Ukraine.
In Krasnodar, a court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for a 56-year-old resident of one of the cities in the Southern Federal District, who is suspected of committing treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the FSB Directorate for Krasnodar Krai reported.
The arrested man works as an aircraft commander at one of the civil aviation facilities in the south of Russia. The man was detained at the station square of the Krasnodar-1 railway station. The footage from the operational video shows that the FSB officer, having presented his service ID, told the elderly man that he was being detained on suspicion of treason. After that, the detainee was interrogated and taken to court, which ordered that the defendant be sent to a pretrial detention facility.
According to the FSB Directorate for Krasnodar Krai, the pilot, on his own initiative, found a so-called volunteer who is organizing an online fundraiser to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The volunteer gave the pilot a bank account number and instructions for sending funds, after which he used an electronic money and cryptocurrency exchange service to make a money transfer to Ukraine. The FSB Directorate for Krasnodar Krai did not report any other details of the investigation.
The official representative of the UFSB of Russia for Krasnodar Krai, Ilonna Pisareva, in a commentary on the information about the investigation of the criminal case, emphasized that no methods of conspiracy when helping the enemy will ensure the anonymity of the attacker. "The perpetrators will be punished with up to life imprisonment," the representative of the UFSB said.
