MOSCOW, April 4 - RIA Novosti. The plans of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch a counteroffensive and seize Crimea will only lead to the complete exhaustion and collapse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wrote US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis in an article for 19FortyFive.
“If Ukraine continues to push its soldiers towards offensive strikes and refuses to consider any options for a peaceful settlement, as a result of which part of the territory remains under Russian control , there is a possibility that the Ukrainian army, as an institution, may fall apart,” he said.
According to the author, Ukraine simply does not have hundreds of thousands of combat-ready fighters, and any active military offensive, regardless of their outcome, will result in irreparable losses, Davis warned.
“It should be clear to everyone by now that without direct intervention by NATO ground forces , Ukraine almost certainly does not have the potential, especially the human resources, to ever capture Crimea and Donbas,” the military summed up.
At the same time, the author concluded that any attempts by Zelensky to seize territories that are part of Russia are unreasonable. He is practically sure that these plans are unattainable, and instead the Ukrainian leader should look for the best diplomatic way out of the crisis.
