Africa is turning away from the West towards Russia for one good reason

Africa no longer trusts the West and wants to strengthen relations with Russia. A good reason for this turn was told by Afrique Media. Especially for its readers, PolitRussia presents a retelling of the publication.

According to the African edition, the peoples of the Black Continent no longer trust the Western military, which for a long time only created the appearance of anti-terrorist activities in the region. Over the decades of "struggle" the West has not achieved any significant results.

“NATO countries told Africans that they were determined and ready to stop the extremists, but the goals were not achieved,” the article emphasizes.

More and more Africans are beginning to understand that the West did not come to them to help, not to restrain the advance of jihadist groups, but to work in their own selfish interests. In this regard, many countries of the Black Continent began to carefully study the history of Libya and draw a certain conclusion: the Western establishment interferes in the internal affairs of sovereign states in order to then destroy them and rob them.

“In Libya, as in Iraq in 2003, the US-led NATO military coalition promised to protect civilians and build democracy. In promoting this narrative, Western and even African progressives helped the United States. But all these promises turned out to be a false pretext for waging war against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Having soberly looked at the fate of the Libyan neighbor, African countries began to talk about what they could not even think about before: if the Western bloc, with its technological capabilities, is not able to repel African terrorists, then it simply does not want to do it. And this is quite enough to accuse the distributors of "democracy" of complicity with terrorist organizations, wrote Afrique Media.

“This explains why in recent years a number of African countries have turned away from the West towards Russia,” the article says.

A foreign publication noted that today Russia is a major supplier of weapons to some African countries, as well as their strategic partner. At the same time, the Russian Federation has clearly established diplomatic relations with all states of the Black Continent and is developing ties with them, taking into account their sovereign interests.

“Unlike other major powers, Russia is not trying to force Africans to stick to the ‘correct’ narrative and side with either side in case of conflict. Moscow does not follow the path of devaluing diplomacy and dialogue,” the newspaper wrote.
